Stamp Club Cards - August 2011

Three cards from our stamp club today.  I changed them up a little once I got home - needed to make them fit my needs at the moment.  Just love the look of the doily card and so easy to make.  Was stamped in white and then embossed so has a raised effect - almost looks like a real doily!  The butterfly card will be able to use it for any occasion, and can always use more birthday cards!

Manly Cards!

Cards for men are hard to make because most of the stamps that I have are all flowery.  Below are a few cards that were made in our recent stamp club - all stamps and paper are StampinUP.  Just love when everything cordinates so well together.  And they were all very simple to make!

Wedding Card

Wedding card for my brother-in-law.  I made the wedding invitations for him (will be shown in another post) and decided to make a card for him out of the same aqua paper.  To dress it up a bit, I put vellum over the paper and wow, in person it looks really pretty, just could not get the camera shot to do it justice.  I made two layers of the vellum (which has a design already in it) and then stamped the birds in the heart.  Punched tiny flowers out of the aqua paper and attached them over the stamped ones.
Here is a side view that shows off the vellum paper a little more.  The ribbon is cream with gold in it and is the ribbon that I used on the invitations.  Really like how this card turned out - looks very elegant!

Dog & Birdhouse

Another dog w/bird card - I like this little stamp!  This time, I cut out another copy of the dog and bird house and popped them up for a 3D effect.  I cut out the design with a Circle Nestability and made an embossed edge around it.  Then I took a marker and colored in the edge.  Didn't like how it turned out - the line going around was jagged - so sponged more purple around so that it was not so noticeable.  Popping it up on a black background also helped.  Amazing what we do to fix our mistakes!

Flowers on Rocker

A new stamp that I got at the Stampaway Show in Cincinnati.  Colored with Copics and the "floor and wall" were done with Memento Ink Pads.  Flowers were hand punched and glued down to give it a 3D effect.  Each has a tiny black dot in the middle.  Card was also sewed around the edges - really like the sewiing effect!  Think I went a little overboard on the stitching on the oval, but it sorta goes with the rest of the card.
Here is another version of the same stamp - not sure which one I like best!?  I like the "wallpaper" effect that has the three dots, almost looks real.  Flowers have Stickles dots inside each for a little bling!

Summer Fun

Needed a fun summer card and FINALLY used my Cricut to make the entire card!  All items were cut with the Cricut.  It is still a learning process to be able to figure out how to cut out all the different layers and glue them all together to make a cool ice cream cone, but I think that it finally turned out ok.  I also have trouble figuring out what size to make the cutouts, so an 'hour' card always takes me 'two hours'!  The little bee is a stick-on that I picked up along the way, knowing that I would use it one day!  Isn't that true of a lot of stuff we all have in our craft rooms!?
Here is a side view - all the Cricut items are three layers.  I used Ranger Accents for the dots on the wording and also for the white on the ice cream and popsicle.

A Great Day

My first sewing card!  I have always admired cards that had stitching on them and finally broke down and got a small portable sewing machine.  This is my first card and I love the look of the stitching.  I used the zig-zag stitch and it came out pretty straight - think I would have a hard time doing a straight line!  I also colored it with Copics.  I am still trying to learn how to color with these pens and I stamped out about five of the little dogs and colored them all different ways and finally went with this one.  Still not 100%, but I am getting there!  Hope you like it!
